"SIWWY WABBIT! I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE!"

If you ever wonder from where cartoonists draw inspiration, spend some time around animals. As such, weekends on a farm can be a bit Looney as Meadow continues her endless hunt for the elusive groundhog. On the rare occasion that she does make a catch, she is asked to drop her quarry, a command she reluctantly obeys. Truth is, she discovered a tunnel entrance (outside the pasture) which was later covered -- but post the thrill of the hunt. Truth also is, another hole will pop up elsewhere. Because the holes are so dangerous, we don't discourage hunting, but we don't encourage it either.

That's all folks!

I'm enjoying these smaller slices from the country. (amazing strawberry blossoms, now?!) Good luck to Meadow. Another hole will pop up, for sure!

I love groundhogs. It's a good thing Meadow will release her catch on command. I don't think a critter would have such luck if one of my dogs got a hold of it.

Oh, yes! That little strawberry blossom brought sunshine into my life just when it was needed. As always, what a  sweet surprise the garden gave me.

As for those groundhogs! I don't know what to say except that I wish they'd be a little more thoughtful of where they placed the openings to their tunnels.

Just love it when I see the head down and tail up wagging. The smell of the hunt. That is quite a big groundhog in the video; wasn't that what that was? We have quite a problem with those critters here too and the jack russels will not give up.

Hi Debi. Yes, that is one huge groundhog! Once upon a time, there were six jacks here all at once. As you know, obedience and listening were not their strong points. Tail up? Perfect score, every time.

You gotta love a dog that's determined. I love that photo.
